Can You Trust Calorie Counts On Menus

Meal calories may not be seen on many current menus, however, by next year, this will be the norm. In 2014, Federal law goes into effect mandating chain restaurants, vending machines and convenience stores to provide nutritional information on their menus. This general law may be pending, but it was revealed that not all the fast food restaurants that currently list their menus calorie count can be trusted. On comparing the restaurants listed calorie count with personal analysis, it was revealed that many restaurants calorie count were off and in some instances by as much as 420 calories. It was also revealed that over half of the “low calorie” dishes analysed had more calories than what was claimed by the chain restaurant.
