Cystic fibrosis is a genetically caused, chronic, progressive disease of the body’s mucous glands. It affects many systems in the body but generally interferes with the normal functioning of the respiratory and digestive systems. Patients can also develop many other medical concerns, but the course of the disease varies considerably from patient to patient.

Most Cystic fibrosis problems are due to the production of mucus that is thick and sticky, rather than watery. Symptoms include frequent coughing and bouts of bronchitis and pneumonia, which leads to inflammation and permanent lung damage.

Coconut oil is high in saturated fats so small portions aid cystic fibrosis.
